I hope this is the best place to put this question. I am currently using the Furman HDS6 Headphone system in our studio and for the last 20+ years it has always sounded great... but now, were doing more sessions/projects that 4 subs and a master isn't giving us what we need... So, I would like to hear from folks that have and or used the Berhinger P16 products. I am looking at the P16i in the control room (with 2 mix boxes at the console) and all the feeds for the system... Then take a Cat5e shielded cable out to the tracking room for up to 8 mix boxes. I will run one line from the control room to the vocal booth in the back of the studio. and another connection from the Tracking room to the Outer iso booth. Probably using 6 - 8 mixers for tracking and giving the players there own control on a mixer. The idea on paper makes sense but when it comes down to the sound at each mixer how is the quality of the sound.. .Before I go to the expense of the equipment and running the cables I'd like to hear what folks that use the system say. Obviously there are a lot of systems out there in places like Church's and venues that need more that one or to headphone/in ear monitoring and if this system is set up and the quality of the tracks that are being sent from the console how is the audio for the players... Like I said I've been using the Furman up to now with great success and folks talk about the headroom and quality. I need some real user feed back. The other product like Hear Technologies and the Avion system.... but now to get the same flexibility and number of station you are looking at 3-4 times the cost. Is a player going to walk out on the Berhinger sound? Were a small studio and it's going to be a big jump for us but my biggest concern (over cost) is the actual audio quality and reliability. The idea of get what you pay for doesn't work that way all the time. Thanks for any feedback you can offer

I've used it and like it. Smaller system; one hub out to 4 boxes - 2 in the control room and 2 in remote locations about 100 feet away. System has been reliable, goes loud, and sounds good. Previously had been using the Hearbacks and they were terrible - sounded bad, noisy, underpowered, and unreliable. The Behringer has been solid for a few years now. The mixer boxes have the option to be individually powered with a wall wart - we haven't needed it, but I could imagine with 8 to 10 boxes running on the system it might be a good idea.

I have the Hear things. I've used the Avioms and Behringers at other studios. The Behringers seem to be a rip off of the Avioms. One studio where I've used the Behringers has had them for years, with no issues and a lot of use. I like the Behringers better than my Hear Tech things. I used to use the Furmans at some other studios. Those tended to fail a lot.

Having a great headphone mix can lead to great results in the studio!

That is great to hear richbreen, I plan t use the 16d in the tracking room and run a cable from that to each user with the cat 5e sheilded cables and hopefully that will take care of any power requirements. I'ts a big jump for us in the way of offering headphone control to each player. In the control room I will run the main unit with the audio input from the console. On that unit I can run another 5 mixers in the control room... can't see ever using that many but it makes things clean. I will take one of the outs to the P16d in the tracking room and a direct line to the vocal booth...

Thanks for the response and info n the Aviom and Hear Technologies .. both are incredibly expensive and from the looks of it the Berhinger has more options. Also, reliability as you know is a killer if something goes down... I'll have a couple of spares on hand but paying for a room full of unhappy players on a session is no fun! I am going to do a set up with 1 station to get the routing from the board right. I'm glad to hear that large studios are adopting the system and they have been in use for years but the p16-hq is pretty new have you been in a situation where you have used the new mixer? It's going to take me some thinking on how to interface it with my Sony DMX-r100 digital console and my RME Ray-Dat cards in my computer. As for the Furman, if they had a larger system I'd have no problem jumping in :-)

One particular studio that I'm at from time to time has been using the Behringers for years with no issues. This means these are still the old mixers. I have not used anything newer.

The Powerplay are indeed a copy of the Avioms, and they're nothing like as robust...but they're also nothing like the same price!

I've used them and liked them - and the new versions look even better.

I've used the Hear Technoloqies Hearback plenty, it's fine but always a bit of a compromise.

The Behringer can be a bit overwhelming for non-tech savvy musicians, but no more so than having a mini mixing console at their station.

I'd definitely recommend them.
