ME who does volume automation
Hi,
I've seen a video in which Reuben Cohen at Lurssen mastering is doing some fader rides to retain/create punch to transitions.
This is a point that's always annoyed me when I get my mixes back from the various mastering engineers I've worked with.
Despite always asking for a dynamic master, I always get a flat pancake back. Even after asking them to back off their comps and limiters, my transitions lose quite a bit of punch.
I'd love to try Reuben Cohen but don't have a big name nor do I have a big label to "back my work up" so despite my mixes being pretty good (if I may say so), I'm not sure how much effort he'd put in a project like mine...
Any recommendation, someone good but maybe not as much in high demand that would work on keeping the transitions punchy ?
For the sake of precisions, I'm a recording and mixing engineer, not an artist doing his own mixing. And I'm finishing a prog/math-rock album that's got a bit of funk, shoegaze, synth stuff, etc at times...
