Hi, first post. I'm a guitar maker / player, who also likes to record my instruments and my music. What started as a simple setup many years ago, slowly evolved, until the pile of gear in my home studio became unpractical. I decided I needed a desk to store it all and hopefully help my work flow.

As I am also currently doing a house reno, I have lots of leftover bits and pieces of leftover wood. I am also a guitar maker, with a nice workshop and lots of tools. I enjoy making the occasional "furniture" project on the side, and I am fond of using simple hand tools when I can.

I found some ideas for the design of the desk on this forum, Pinterest etc, and I sketched a simple design based on that and some tweaks of my own. As you can tell, I was going for practical and strong more than pretty...

I am considering ditching the Mackie control for a 19" middle bay, it will be more compact and the computer keyboard is sufficient as a controller for me

OK, I have now used the desk for a while, it seems to suit my needs. I keep changing and rewiring stuff though, to improve workflow as I learn more. I got some bantam patch bays + wiring second hand from another studio, and as many of the soldered connections were intact, I used I just used it mostly as it came to hook up my gear. I also bought and sold some gear, but it was getting difficult to keep track of the connections.
