In GS posts on a couple of AI threads, I think including here, I said I really would like to use AI as a producing tool. Something to bounce ideas off just like the big artists do, but I can't afford. Aside: I know some will read that and say "learn your craft" or something like that. I write music and lyrics, perform and record (typically all the instruments), mix and produce my own song. But I also sure like bouncing them off my old bandmate and friend and getting his input. It often sparks me to other ideas about the song and gives me motivation to complete it.
Suno tantalized me with the audio input feature where I could put in snippets of songs for it to replay and extend. But recently they expanded the input length to eight minutes, I can get covers of my entire songs (well, except for the 12 minutes one). This definitely puts it into the producer tool category.
And apparently Suno knows that. I've seen three short reel ads for Suno featuring Timbaland, and another with a female keyboard player filling out an idea. On one of the Timbaland ones, he remarks that producers, like himself, have a lot of incomplete ideas lying around. I can relate, so many ideas I've recorded bits of to revisit later, I have a backlog I'll die with. Maybe AI can help me get more done. Like, I supposed it can save me some time if I give it a basic drum track I programmed and have it give me a more completed, human one, etc.
