Idk if this qualifies for this category, but one time I let a friend borrow a piece of gear which was in the original packaging. I came to get it a few weeks later and he had thrown the boxes away..

When I asked him why, he said he didn't think anything of it.

I always keep every box to every piece of gear that I purchase.

To give you an idea, the guy looks, acts, and speaks exactly like Michael Scott from ‘The Office’, but with blonde hair.

I met one of one my favorite girlfriends in much the same manner as you describe:

pro tip: person was lying. It was a lie of politness. Track didnt work for them.

my old console had a "Conductor's Talkback" button that only went to one headset. Usually we did rock bands but one day we actually did have small orchestra with an actual conductor. The guy who built the board told me: "it's so you can tell the conductor that someone made a mistake without embarrassing them."

I of course, used it to "comment on the attractiveness" of the flute player and ask the conductor (who was a friend of mine) if she was seeing anyone. He got this alarmed look on his face until I told him we were on a 'secure channel'.

Whether it is a client, musician, family, or random visitor, there is always one that asks...

Visitor: How much did that mic cost?
Me: Expensive.
Visitor: Like, how expensive?
Me: Money.
Visitor: If I wanted to put all this in my house, how much would it cost.
Me: Hundreds of dollars.
Visitor: What about that thing? What's that do?
Me: Compressor, helps maintain consistent levels.
Visitor: How much does one of those cost?
Me: Can't remember, got it used.
Visitor: So, are you trying to get famous?
Me: No. Just something I enjoy doing.
Visitor: But if Weezer wanted to record here, how much would you charge them?
Me: That's not happening, but free I guess.
Visitor: What about those speakers? How much are those?
Me: Can't remember.. you can look it up, it's all online.
Visitor: So your wife just let you go out and buy all this?
Me: I didn't just buy this stuff. I've been collecting gear for over 30 years.
Visitor: (Comes back from the bathroom) HOLY SHIT! Those speakers are $5,000 dollars!
Me: It's not an affordable hobby. Excuse me, I have to take this call.
