On the cheap side of things there are the gopros/ zooms etc... I think this is where gopros etc may not be so good.
Any reccomendations?
I have been using the
Zoom Q2n 4k for similar 'documentation' purposes. If you want something to "
stick on a stand" there you go, IMO. It is
4k, and capable of a very wide angle. Like all Zoom stuff, the built in mics do a nice job of capturing what is there. I have even laid back the audio from the camera as "room mics" on a multitrack that I did. They have some videos with Chick Corea and other musicians on their web page.

decent in low light.
it is
excellent in low light and has settings for a number of different lighting scenarios as well as an Auto mode

Prob be prepared to spend £700/£800.
Well, you could get
four of them and have money left over. That might be fun - to switch angles and so on. I know this is the "
Video" forum and everyone will turn up their nose at such a cheap solution,

but you did say you just wanted something to "
stick it on a stand"! And IMO, it will still
slay your phone for picture quality and low-light. To me it's crazy how much they pack into this tiny little thing.

29-minute overheat problem
I think it would be weird if your camera overheated at exactly 29 minutes... Someone told me that this was a deliberate
crippling of the actual capability of the cameras so that they could avoid some tax or import duty applied to "video cameras" (30 minutes) that was not applied to "still cameras". So this may be country-specific. In any case, I have recorded 4-5 hours straight on the Zoom with no issues. It can take up to a 1 TB card. Indoors, I power mine with the USB cable. Outside, a set of new lithium batteries will go for 5 or 6 hours at least.
