Thanks in advance...
I have plenty of thoughts, and a few suggestions. I set out on a journey about 4 years ago to learn this video stuff and record concerts, recitals, and studio sessions. There have been quite a few dead ends, and U-turns along the way.
I noodled around with Final Cut Pro X, PowerDirector, Adobe Premiere, and DaVinci Resolve. I am now on DaVinci Resolve Studio 18 (both PC Win10, and Mac/Big Sur) and will likely stay with it. My comments will center around that. My "standard" concert is to be 3-cameras, all 4K. Sometimes more; up to 7 cameras so far.
Case: I had a Cooler Master HAF XB EVO; now have an Antec P101. The noisy RTX 3080 Ti "deal" (blower version) sounded like a vacuum cleaner. I might water-cool the GPU some day and go back to the the HAF, which is more convenient for swapping SATA drives for experiments.
Motherboard: ASRock X570 Creator since Jan 2020. All slots are potentially in use, and newer motherboards don't seem to offer as many. Each GPU (see below) covers a long slot, and a x1 PCIe. There's also a U.2 NVMe in a x4 slot, and a x1 PCIe adapter that attaches to an external StarTech case that has a UAD-2 Duo and two RME HSPE 9652's.
Memory: 128GB DDR4 3200; so far overkill and 64GB is more than enough
GPU: Started with a GTX 1070, now have an RTX 3080 Ti, *and* an Intel A380 in the Win10 machine (But the Intel causes RAID error messages, so it'll not stay until I remove the 3x 2TB SATA.) The 2010 Mac has an RX6800 (non-XT)
Processor: AMD 3950X since Jan 2020. I keep trying to justify $500 to go with a 5950X, but there's always a new lens, or SD card, or camera cage, or light, or something else that would make much more of a difference than a CPU bump.
SSD drives: 8TB U.2 enterprise-grade HGST NVMe for media. Also Sabrent 2TB NVMe, and 3x 2TB SATA Crucial RAID-0 in the Win10 box. The Mac has 2x 4TB WD SN700's and 2TB Sabrent. My experiences have led me to the opinion that endurance (TBW) is far more important than any speed differences among brands.
