I've never seen a dynamic mic that was affected by phantom power before. I was under the impression that couldn't happen due to the output transformer in the mic.
Anyone ever see this before?
Normally there is no path from the signal leads to ground, and you can verify that with your old one. This is why phantom power shouldn't affect it.
My guess is that your mike has a path from one of the signal leads to ground in M mode, and that when phantom power is turned on you now have voltage applied across the element and the element is not happy with that.
My guess would be an issue with the switch assembly, but you won't know without tearing it down.
