And I worry that if they do not, there will be hell to pay. Making the transition to a post-scarcity society will require new attitudes, and our current attitudes may be too deeply ingrained to make that transition simple.
The transition will be hard and difficult, causing inordinate hardship for scores of people worldwide, just as was the shift from an agrarian society to an industrial one.
But I don't see why the powers that be would want the hoi polloi to have any new attitudes, attitudes that were carefully ingrained into the masses over many decades through clever and penetrating media and advertisements. The economy needs consumers, period, EOS.
I would think UBI is one way to still have a consumer base who'll spend their money according to how they're manipulated.
