I just rewatched Princess Mononoke, the anime.

I didnt recall it had so much violence in it with chopped off limbs and all.
Also this time I found it a bit lengthy ( 2h 15min, ca ) and slow despite that it is action packed, actually too action packed for my taste. But still it's a beautiful movie.
But I recalled it very differently, more poetic and still.

Lat evening I watched The Alto Knights.

A very solid film starring Robert De Niro in a dual roll performance. I loved the film which is about New York's most notorious organized crime bosses.

Great I’m gonna watch that in a bit , I skipped past it because without looking, I thought it was a film about a saxophonist

THE EQUALIZER 2

There was something fun about the first movie, but probably for lack of streaming options I watched the third movie, then got to this one last night.
I would almost rather watch the little one-offs for a few hours where he rescues random people and rights injustices for people he comes across. The main plot really kicked off about halfway through the movie and was just basically his old team hunting him down for getting in their way. It wasn't particularly inventive like the first one, but at least Denzil wasn't as old as he was by the third one. I was fine to suspend my disbelief about a guy that age being the deadliest man alive, but sometimes it was tough to ignore.

More Predator malarky.

While nothing can match the 1st film IMHO, this filled a gap. Same guy who did Prey which was really good I thought.

This is a cartoon with 3 stories and was fairly enjoyable.

There is a Live action film later this year that looks very interesting.

Not sure why this franchise wont die, if it bleeds you can kill it.

I was in the mood for something absolutely stupid and funny, and there's no better place to find that in the early 00s. White Chicks is about a pair of FBI agents. You might miss this if you're not paying attention, but they're black. I hope that doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the movie, but this is a critical plot point because they need to hide their FBI antics by pretending to be white women. Nearly all of the jokes are dependent on this fact. Again, I hope that doesn't spoil your enjoyment, but they are black people pretending to be white people.

But yeah, it's critically panned and more than kind of stupid, but you come to a movie like this for the same reason you come to a movie like Dumb & Dumber or Happy Gilmore. If you want depth, you watch a masterpiece like The Fast And the Furious. You came for awful jokes that toe the line between hilarious and racially insensitive. In that regard, White Chicks delivers. It's a stupid movie, but my god is it funny. My chest was hurting from the amount of sodium in the pizza I was eating combined with how much I was laughing. Gotta give the Wayans credit where it's due: It's not fine art, but it's freaking hilarious! Highly recommend this movie if you need some more laughter in your life.

Vhs rental. Can't recollect any of it but know it's a movie I've seen.

Them wayans guys are funny. Mo'money was good as well from what I remember of it.. From the same time. (I can't recollect what happens in that one either but it was funny)

It was pretty good , not as chaotic as casino , but still interesting
I noticed a few actors from the sopranos, and a lab guy from CSI
Interested in how much it cost to make , I think I read it only pulled in about 9.5 million , and between this and mickey17 WB lost just over 100 million that weekend

Tin Soldier (2025)

I mean, Jamie Foxx is fine as a magnetic dominant cult leader that could have crushed dissidents in the Hunger Games.

Scott Eastwood is beautiful (damn does he look like his dad in Dirty Harry) and troubled and everything you'd want in a traumatized leading man.

Robert DeNiro serves his role well as the ageing head of a rogue unit tasked with quashing a Jonestown repeat

Nora Arnezeder is the angelic love interest. She will soothe Eastwood's troubled mind and mold him into a new man. So...on paper everything should work (assuming a good story)

For whatever reason, Director Brad Furman chose a loose style with psychedelic flashback interludes, distracting sound FX and color correction that is ultimately distracting, and doesn't add as much as further character developement might have imo.

At 80 min runtime, there was a lot to cover. They might have succeeded at delivering a mini Apocalypse Now, complete with a Colonel Kurtz/Martin Sheen style standoff but when it was all said and done, we got a decent streaming service movie that is still worth a watch.
