Follow up question- for those of you who have used Millenia, Grace or a pre without low cut, do you do this in software or have a hardware eq? I find cutting the low rumbles early makes sense. Of course ideally your room wouldn’t have any but it’s also nice to shape the sound a little, if it’s sounding a bit close etc

Since abandoning tape and poor quality AD/DA I don't bother when capturing, but tailor a low cut in post.

My preamps go into a System5 mix desk, where I can use a low cut when needed (my Foley studio is very, very quiet, but I prefer to cut the low end when recording cloth movement in case of a rare occurence of low end intrusion).
