I'm curious, Kennybro and others, I don't get much low end from just an inside kick mic. I can add it with eq, but it's not just there like an outside kick mic. I do usually use an RE20 on inside, but sometimes an ATM 25. I stopped using my M88 on kick after I blew it up. Outside, I used to use a bunch of things, mostly an AT4047, but now I really like the cheap Warm 47 Jr for that spot. I'll also use the Warm 47 tube mic as FOK.
Sometimes I have no hole, so I'll use (these days) just the Jr on the outside and still use the tube 47 FOK. Sometimes I'll have just one head and I might use just one mic, probably the RE 20, and barely inside the drum; not as close as a multimic setup with a hole.
Anyway, the inside mic always needs a boost if I want low end from it. (Sometimes I do; sometimes I don't.) The outside mic doesn't necessarily need a boost in the lows. The FOK gets even more low end. It's kind of how I finish the low end of the kick.
