Yes - both my PCM and LXP licenses are still one dongle-only activation.

I don't know whether they will update automatically to 2 machine/dongle activations or whether I need to email either Harman or Flux to get that done manually?

Why on earth would any company still use a hardware dongle in 2025, when there's a cloud-based iLok?
And who in the world would even try software that depends on a missing hardware device — except maybe former Lexicon users with outdated versions? I have hw PCM96 by the way, just trying to find more flexible/portable solution.

If your license hasn't updated and still shows one activation, then it's your old dongle-only license from 10-15 years ago (or depending when you bought it).

Dongles offer a different set of advantages and trade-offs over cloud licenses (not least the ability to continue to work offline.)

I'd guess the demo licenses are still the old ones and haven't been updated, and they'll probably get around to updating those too (might be worth giving their support a nudge).

(It seems they haven't finished migrating existing users' licenses yet, which is probably the priority right now, so maybe the trials will follow when that's done.)

A lot of people have iLoks, so this wouldn't prevent a lot of people demoing it as it is, but yes, I agree that the trial licenses need to support machine activation if the full licenses do as well.

I ALWAYS use dongle and NEVER cloud. Cloud (any/all) consistently go down for this/that.

Dongle never goes down..and..is instantly replaceable if lost (for me)...and....lets me instantly change machines.

No cloud for me. Machine auth is ok for me with some products I own that are non-ilok.

iLok conversations never go anywhere. People simply have different needs, all of them legit. Let's not derail yet another conversation with that chaos.

Anyway, IMO if there is a complaint about the Flux Lexicon (see how I said IMO?)

It's that Flux assigned a different ID to their VST3. Therefore when you open up an old project with VST2 you are going to have to do some work. They could have given it the same ID, allowing it to automatically open a prior VST2 with a VST3 but they claim that would be contrary to all the other Flux plugs.

I say "I think" a lot during the day, to make it clear that it's just an opinion, because that's typically what it is. I do know many people who have trouble understanding that their world and perspective don't capture that of the other 8 BIL people on the planet. It's puzzling.

I was also hoping the updated Lex plugs would replace the old ones in our sessions but I'm not sweating it -- above I'd mentioned the very easy process for swapping in the new ones. I'm also wondering why they didn't use the same IDs but since the updates install alongside the old, in a new folder, they must have a good reason for it. I hope it's not simply because "that's how we do it."

The current demo licenses allow two activations and can be activated to hardware iLoks (1st/2nd/3rd gen) or to your machine.

Ok cool, so it seems they've updated them now to match the license, as people said the demo license previously was to iLok dongle only (as was the full licence before the update).

A beta friend who asked said that is precisely it. Policy and or consistency among all their other products. He didn't sound encouraged Flux would be flexible with this. Maybe if enough requests/complaints happen, but I wouldn't count on it.

Well that's not encouraging at all. But at this point it's easy enough to swap-in the new plugin, and of course any new sessions will only have the new version so it's not an issue.

But if Flux can have their arm twisted enough to implement this I'll be happy to write to them.

Unfortunately I can't remove the 2021-license of effects bundle which requires dongle, so these current trial computer-based licenses can't be installed since this old one has some kind of priority in activation and which I can't activate. iLok support is kinda unresponsive

I can't believe the interface is still not scalable! The text is basically unreadable on my monitor. Oh well, maybe in 2035 they'll get it right.

Great to be using the lxp bundle again without constant crashes. That’s me sorted for reverb! Thanks Flux. The sound is not as thick and rich as I remember when I had a PCM 90 many years ago, the snare reverbs on that were something else, but then I was using it through a hardware analog mixerwhich might account for the sonic difference.

Still no extra activation. I requested a demo license, but so far haven't been granted one (I assume because I already have licenses). Seems like there may be nothing I can do on my end to get it off the USB dongle. Frustrating that they advertise this upgrade when they aren't prepared to roll it out for all customers.

Wow, I'm impressed. I never thought I'd have my PCM verbs back. Not really sure I remember how to use them. But it's neat they're back, at least for the time being.
