Hi, how that does plugin compares to Reference by Mastering the Mix?

I have tried both. I find it vastly superior. The metering options for LUFS, the spectrum Analyser that has a really use able resolution and that can overlay curves of tracks and the easy switching between multiple tracks is great. As boring as it may appear, no plugin I ver bought had a bigger positive impact on my sound...

Learned a lot from this template. Even if you don't play live or don't have a hardware controller, there are plenty of techniques and components that can optimise different workflows (like mine).

Was even able to apply a lot of it on my Roland MC-707, which also happens to be 8-track, has resampling/looping capabilities out of the box, as well as clip/line launching like Ableton, and also features a limited set of tools at your disposal instead of having choice paralysis all the time.

Just wondering how you are getting along with this. I have had a few requests to do a follow up video on making a track from scratch using the template. Also sample packs of these type of premixed samples came up as well as a more detailed explanation of the compose tracks… any suggestions on GS?

Checked out your tracks on your YouTube channel ..excellent tracks remind be on Ben bohmer ..it’s criminal you have some top tracks but hardly any views or plays but then there’s garbage with millions of plays..wishing u every success for future mate.
I don’t use Abelton so templates no use too me but still nice your sharing also u have a great studio..if u ever do anything for Cubase I’ll get it

I wanted to see if anyone wants to chime in on what additional tools or resources would be useful to them for use in the Rapid Flow template? So far the main requests are:

1. more pre-mixed samples (considering drums and a Basses to start)
2. a more in depth explanation video of the compose section

Are you pre producing the loops, and then arranging it via your template?

No I would pre produce individual drum hits as well as a chromatically sampled bass or two. Just 16 sounds per category but each sound must be F I R E, A little daunted by that goal but could be fun and super useful also for myself to consolidate the best sounds fragmented around my Ableton projects…

Now I get what you meant I think… I don’t pre produce in another project, everything is done inside this one template, so less overhead moving things around from preproduction to live set etc. Really liberating that anything can be tested live right after composition…

After having worked with it for some time now and gaining more understanding of what each bit does and how it all fits together, I can safely say that this is taking my music to the next level.

Biggest eye openers:

• Reverse mastering/mixing (hear and see immediately if something fits or not or if leveling/EQ/dynamics are needed)
• Decoupling sound selection from composition/arrangement (don't go over your entire library with every new track, but stick with a small selection in your template and update it one piece at a time over time)
• 8 tracks is all you need (and when it's not there's always resampling)
• You don't need 10 plugins on each track, use good source material (pref. premixed) instead.
• Don't add complexity to the template itself (put a new kick in -> take one out, and so on)

And probably a few things more I forgot.

I'm not a live artist myself, so I don't use the session view. But it really doesn't matter because all the principles that make this template what it is still apply when primarily using the arrangement view.

It looked like you were using audio loops in your example set.

Ah now I get you: yes those are loops that I pre-produced to fit into the set. I do that on the right hand side of the template (Compose Section). So even though MIDI VST etc all gets used, I convert them to Audio loops including all FX as soon as they are ready. I erase what I made them with. Very fast, liberating and CPU efficient.

Drums: These are not massive dumps of random samples (I hate those too!) but field tested packs of 16 highly functional sounds per pack, including all processing. Quality over quantity = more time actually writing music.

The Drum Computers & Synthesizers you will find in the pack are: Moog DFAM // Vermona DRM-1 MKIV // MFB Tanzbär MKI // Roland TR-606 TR-808 TR-909. All these instruments have a special MOJO that I never heard in plugins... but it's always challenging to get them to cut through.

We got there in the end: These are some of the warmest AND punchiest kick drums I have heard and I'm a little proud of how the pack turned out

This is an Ableton Drum Rack but the samples can be used with any DAW. The WAV Files are included. I have included the Rapid Flow template at no extra cost as I realized, without it this Kit is only half the fun!
