I find the 165a loves drums.. The auto times on attack and release make it effortless too.
I like it on individual close mic channels, but more so on something that gets the whole kit. Like a room mic, or a glue mic, or a buss that's combined channels.
Delightful.
lots of compressors make drums big, but the 165a seems to make them smaller and tighter. Good times.
Like most above in this thread, the peakstop limiter never gets used. I have been meaning to try removing the peakstop from the circuit, it's just lifting a diode or 2 I believe. Turns it into a 165 sans 'a'. Curious to hear the difference..
