Looks very sexy, just how I'd imagine a Roland 10-0-10 to look, - but, probably comes at a price, and overall I personally think it's relatively stripped back, compared to say the Perkons, - although that might bring the price down.
- Sonically, I'm personally not really hearing anything a TR-8s through an Analog Heat and dbx-166A couldn't achieve, - but I guess from a performer's point of view, the Hexdrums is a much more 'playable' instrument, plus the analogue drive and compression is onboard, which will also add to its unique sound/character.
Syntakt is probably still my current favourite drum machine for inspiration, - simple user interface, but vast amounts of different sounds available, - I just wish it had a couple more individual outputs, but nothing a sampler can't solve.
Still, for the right price, I definitely wouldn't say no to a Hexdrums.
- As always, I ain't no professional, just another old idiot with enough money to spend on toys that feed my autistic need for sonic manipulation.
