Korg MR1000 DSD recorder problem solved
Just wanna share my experience with a Korg MR1000 dsd recorder which I had in storage for 5 years since it developed a problem. Whenever I've powered the unit On the display would not go past the initial screen with the image of the recorder and the firmware version! The hard disk would make a clicky kind of noise and the recorder would freeze (could not turn off the unit the regular way - had to pull the AC plug off the outlet)...
After years of frustration searching the internet for some insight or somebody going through the same pain, I've decided I would try substituting the 1.8 zif hdd. But the thing is, before I've ordered an used substitute hdd I've opened the unit to check if it would be an easy swap...took out the top metal sleeve (1 phillips screw) that serves as a shockmount for the hdd, plugged the AC cord and, just for the heck of it, powered the unit on: it worked flawlessly!! To confirm that it wasn't coincidence I've screwed the metal part back where it belongs and, sure enough, the Korg showed the same old malfunction!!
Hope my post can be of any use for somebody someday!!
